Review: Benedictine Daily Prayer: A Short Breviary, Second Edition (Liturgical Press, 2015). Based on fifteen hundred years of liturgical prayer within the Benedictine monastic tradition, Benedictine Daily Prayer offers a rich diet of classic office hymnody, psalmody, and Scripture. This is my favorite prayer book and merits consideration in any search for a thoughtful and historical breviary. 2266 pages, no markings. Paper is of high quality, print is two colored, easy to read and the book is light weight. A wonderful resource for prayer in the Benedictine way. Benedictine Daily Prayer A Short Breviary. For Christians who desire a traditional prayer devotion that involves the psalms and bible/hagiographical writings, some form of a breviary is a must. Collins Morning and Evening Prayer is good as it is, but a more Benedictine version would be better, hopefully also including the Benedictine prayers to be found in Benedictine Daily Prayer. I only rated it 3 stars because of my difficulty to understand and use it properly.
